Mercantile Museum & Masonic Lodge

Picture
The Hallsville General Store or Mercantile Building was built in 2017. This historical recreation copies the original building that once stood on the southwest corner of the four way in Hallsville. It holds our newest displays as well as housing the Lodge No. 336 of the Hallsville Free Masons. The lodge is also open for tours with the original 1870s regalia as a highlight.

Established in 2017

The members and public worked hard to fulfill the dream of rebuilding the old Mercantile and Masonic Lodge that once held a symbolic position in the city. With this new space, the society plans to have displays and meeting room for the future of the organization and the people of Hallsville.

Our Goal

This building houses the majority of Hallsville's history. It is our Museum, Meeting Room, Event Room, as well as a Genealogy Research Room. We have the goal to house and share the cherished memories of generations past, present, and future.

Original Building History

The Original building was erected on the crossroads in town, at the SW corner of Paris Road, 124, and Hwy OO.
